Upstream Gallery verkoopt in een mum alles van Frank Ammerlaan op Armory Show
Upstream Gallery reported a sold out booth within the first hour of the VIP early access at this years Armory Show in New York. The works of the young Dutch painter Frank Ammerlaan where snapped away mostly by American collectors who saw his work for the first time. Dutch collector Hugo Brown who entered Upstream's booth at 12.30 was happy that he was just in time to buy one of the last available paintings. Gallery owner Nieck de Bruijn stated; "this was an incredible start of The Armory for us, it must been more than 5 years ago that we experienced something like this at an opening, collectors fighting with eachother for the available works". Gallery co-owner Martijn Dijkstra ads; "after a spectacular start with this artist in The Netherlands where we sold out his entire first solo exhibition we where pretty confident coming to the US with his work, but the incredible strong reactions did positively surprise us".
Frank Ammerlaan (1979) lives and works in London and recently graduated from the Royal College of Art. With his degree show he won ‘The Land Securities Studio Award’. He won the Royal Award for Painting in The Netherlands in 2012. A review of his show at Upstream Gallery Amsterdam is published in the March 2013 issue of Artforum.
